3T Lorenzetti Instant Shower in Kenya: What to Know Before You Buy
Cold mornings in Nairobi make a hot shower hard to give up, and a geyser or solar tank isn’t always practical for tenants, small homes or rental units. That’s why instant showerheads like the 3T Lorenzetti are among the most searched-for bathroom upgrades in Kenya.
We’re an electrical and solar contractor in Nairobi, and we’ve seen both good and bad shower installations. This guide covers what you’re buying, what it costs, and how to install it safely.
What does “3T” mean?
“3T” means three temperature settings: cold, warm and hot. In Kenya, the name usually refers to the Lorenzetti Maxi Ducha Ultra. Listings describe it as a 5500W, 220V shower with a cold, warm and hot selector and a heating element built to resist corrosion and scaling, including in borehole and salty water areas.
Water is heated only while it flows, so there is no tank to wait for and no standby electricity use.
Main features
Three-setting selector: simple, mechanical and easy to use.
Loren Ultra heating element: listings say it lasts longer than standard elements. Power ratings run from 4600W to 5500W.
Hard and borehole water friendly: a real advantage in many Kenyan homes, though no element is scale-proof.
Earthing included: the shower is designed to be earthed, which must be connected properly.
Wide spreader: gives better coverage, but it does not fix weak water pressure.
How much does it cost in Kenya?
Prices vary by model and seller. Recent Nairobi listings show:
The entry-level Maxi Ducha Ultra 3T at KSh 1,250, which is unusually cheap, so verify authenticity before paying.
A similar Enerbras Enerducha 3T at about KSh 3,000.
The Lorenzetti Bello Banho at KES 4,900, and the electronic-control Loren Ultra at KES 7,650.
Prices change often, so compare a few sellers. Inspect the box and the element, ask about the warranty, and don’t pay in advance.
Will it work with low water pressure?
The standard 3T works best with moderate pressure. If your water barely trickles, such as on a rooftop or in a single-storey house with a low tank, look at Turbo models. These have a built-in pump designed to boost low water pressure. The pump gives only a slight boost, so check your supply first.
Installation: where most problems start
A 5.5kW shower draws roughly 24 amps, far more than a socket or lighting circuit is meant to carry. Most shower faults we see come from poor wiring, not from the shower itself. A proper installation typically includes:
A dedicated circuit from the consumer unit, not shared with sockets or lights.
Correctly sized cable. 6mm² is common for showers in this power range, but it depends on the model and the cable run.
A suitably rated MCB (often 32A for this class of shower).
A 30mA RCD/RCCB for shock protection.
A solid earth connection. Never skip or improvise this.
A proper isolating switch, positioned where it can’t be reached from the shower.
Cheap cable, a missing RCD or a damaged earth is how a hot shower becomes a hazard. Always use a licensed professional.
What does it cost to run?
A 5.5kW shower uses about 0.9 kWh in a 10-minute shower. Multiply that by your KPLC rate per unit to find the cost. Using the warm setting in hot weather lowers it further. If you already have solar water heating, some Lorenzetti models are marked as solar-compatible, so you can use the instant shower as a backup. Check the spec of your exact model first.
Is the 3T Lorenzetti right for you?
Good fit: tenants, landlords, single people and small families who want hot water without a geyser.
Less suitable: large households with back-to-back showers, very low-pressure homes, or buildings with old or undersized wiring. In those cases, a solar water heating system or a heat pump may serve you better.
Frequently asked questions
Can I install an instant shower myself?
We don’t recommend it. The plumbing is simple, but the electrical side involves high current and shock risk.
Can a Lorenzetti shower use borehole water?
Yes. These models are designed for hard and salty water, but descale the showerhead and clean the filter regularly.
Why does my shower trip the breaker?
Common causes are an undersized MCB, a faulty element, water entering the unit or a damaged earth. Switch it off and have it inspected.
How long does the element last?
It depends heavily on water quality and use. Hard water shortens its life.
